Since last Tuesday Brian continues to get a little better each day, and so far this week the news is good. He finally passed his swallow study, which means he can eat just about anything he wants. He has been to the dentist and has started to get his broken teeth fixed. When he got hurt along with everything else he broke 3 teeth. The dentist says she will have to pull 2 and can save the third. His attitude remains positive and determined. He works hard at his physical therapy and really tries to do everything they ask him to do. His roommate from Iraq sent him his laptop so we are trying to figure out how to get Internet service to his room so he can start reading all the kind words on his blog and hopefully post a few of his own.

What's up bro. This message is from Egli and Estrella. Sorry it took so long to write bro. (Egli writes): When the accident happened we did everything we could to help you out bro before the bird came to pick you up. I don't know if you remember me and estrella trying to make you laugh even though we were hurting inside seeing you lay there. We were really worried bro. When I found out the condition of your wounds I broke a trash can and was really angry and wanted to get back at the AQI and take out as many as I could. Were on the ground now doing HMMWV stuff walking all over the place like real grunts. I miss you a lot. I hope you know that your like a brother to me. I'll see you as soon as I get back. Take care of yourself and tell everyone I said hello. I'll tell you everything else when I see you in person. Love yah bro. (Estrella writes) What's up Sawsy, well bro I can't say how relieved I am that you are getting better. Stay strong for us man. We seriously miss you lots man. Miss the jokes and the short hangouts we had as a platoon. As soon as you have internet access in your room send us a little message. Lot's of love man and well see you when our boots touch back at the states.

To Egli & Estrella: I just wanted to say that it's wonderful to know that Brian had such good and caring friends with him when he needed them the most. I can't begin to express how grateful my family & I are to you for taking care of him. Please take care of yourselves over there and thank you so much,
Mary (Brian's sister)

Dear Brian,

Keep up the good work!!! You are doing so great each week...you are working hard which is no surprise since you made the choice to defend this country with that ....Thank you for fighting for us here back home....without you and countless friends of yours....we would not be free walking about everyday going on with life as usual. While it was not easy over there you and by the sound of it..your friends just do your job everyday...so that we may have that freedom!!!! Thank You for being so strong for us then and now.....you are an amazing person, although you always have been. Heck i remember when you were like 16 and I worked at the focus house some nights I would open that door and you would just be wide awake laying there....who knows what your big dreams were then or what you were thinking...but you have grown up and your family is so proud of you as is everyone from rochelle that got the chance to cross your path in life....as I did. It is you who inspires the rest of us to be strong and succeed no matter what challenges we may face ahead!!! THANK YOU.....

Sawlsville,
Just wanted to let you know that our platoon captured the Al-qaeda cell leader who may have been responsible for the IED that struck you. Can't tell you the whole story becasue of OPSEC. But we captured him during an early morning raid, Rocket3 and Rocket4G(old Rocket1G) captured him on a roof top. He was not able to resist because Rocket1G(old Rocket4G) had his laser aiming beam from his rifle right on the guy's forehead, and Rocket3 had his surefire aimed on his eyes. While he was at the detainee holding area, he got a hold of a grenade and threw it at Rocket1, Rocket3, and Rocket4G and he tried to run and escape, Rocket4G engaged him in hand to hand combat and recaptured him. The grenade did not explode because Rocket3 had taped earlier. This terrorist will most likely get hanged or spend the rest of his pathetic life in jail. Take it easy and we are all doing this for you.(Pay back is a M.F.)
